Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 2026

Short version: We collect minimal data, we don't sell it, we don't share it with advertisers, and we use analytics only to understand how the site is performing — and only if you consent to cookies.

Who we are

CityBreak.in is a UK-based travel recommendation website operated as a personal project. For the purposes of UK GDPR, the data controller is the site owner, based in the United Kingdom.

If you have questions about your data, contact us at: hello@citybreak.in

What data we collect and why

1. Quiz responses (not stored)

When you use the city break quiz, your answers are processed in your browser to calculate your match. They are also sent to the Anthropic API to generate a personalised itinerary. We do not store your quiz answers — they exist only for the duration of your session.

2. Email address (if you subscribe)

If you enter your email address in our subscription form, we collect and store it for the purpose of sending you city break inspiration and travel updates. The legal basis for this processing is your consent (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(a)).

3. Analytics (Google Analytics 4 — only with consent)

If you accept analytics cookies, we use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand how the site is used — which pages are visited, how the quiz is completed, and where visitors come from. This helps us improve the site.

GA4 is only loaded after you have accepted analytics cookies. If you reject cookies, no analytics data is collected.

4. Itinerary generation (Anthropic API)

Your quiz results and departure region are sent to Anthropic's Claude API to generate a personalised 3-day itinerary. This processing is necessary to provide the core feature you requested. Anthropic processes this data under their own privacy policy — see anthropic.com/privacy. We do not send any personally identifiable information to Anthropic.

5. Hosting and server logs

The site is hosted on Netlify. Netlify may collect standard server log data (IP addresses, page requests, timestamps) for security and operational purposes. See Netlify's privacy policy.

Cookies

We use cookies as described in our Cookie Policy. Non-essential cookies (analytics) are only set after you give consent via our cookie banner.

Affiliate links

Some links on this site are affiliate links to Skyscanner, Booking.com and GetYourGuide. If you click these links and make a booking, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. We do not share any personal data with these partners as a result of you clicking a link — standard tracking is handled through the link URL itself. See each partner's privacy policy for details of their data practices.
